Should i take out a student loan?!?

So basically i was offered 6484 dollars at my school. tuition here is around 4800 dollars. i basicallly have 1600 dollars to spend on books and etc. I am obviously blessed to not take out a loan. However, my father has recommended that i do take one out because he fears that by not taking out a loan, i will be in jeopardy of not receiving the same amount of aid the next year since it would show on my profile that i did not need a loan, therefore i do not need so much grants. what should i do???? and the grant that i can take out is Direct Sub Stafford Loan 1: 3500 dollars and unsub: 2000.
