Psychology v. god question?

why is it that so many people are ignorant of the ego vs id concept of the subconscious' communication to the conscious mind and just say god did it? im not a religion-hater it gives people hope and preaches very good ideals, but why do people look so eagerly to the easiest, but most naive answer most of the time?
